PROFILE
CHEN WENER
Born in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China.
She began playing the erhu at the age of four, studying under Yang Qingyu and Xiao Mei.
At the age of 15, she majored in erhu at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music's affiliated high school and university, studying under Ren Wenmin and Niu Miamiao.
During her studies, she trained in the Qin school (Xi'an style) of erhu playing, and is proficient not only in traditional music but also in classical and contemporary works.
In addition, she majored in the banhu (Chinese zither) as a second major and served as principal gaohu player in the university's Chinese instrument orchestra.
In June 2019, I was accepted into the graduate school of Xi'an Conservatory of Music with the top grade in the erhu major (I declined admission).
Arrived in Japan in July 2019.
Since then, she has held her own recitals, collaborated with musicians of various genres, participated in various events, and also planned performances and runs an erhu class. In 2024, she released her first album.
She has been praised for her diverse erhu playing styles and has a large number of concert appearances.
Currently, I am performing and teaching the erhu, aiming to reveal its potential as a bridge of friendship between Japan and China.

Majored in Erhu at Xi'an Conservatory of Music Affiliated High School, 2015.
Bachelor's degree in Erhu Performance from Xi'an Conservatory of Music, 2019.
Completed Master's program in Music Arts Management at Showa University of Music Graduate School in 2022.

In July 2015, she won an award at the 4th Hong Kong International Instrumental Music Competition.
In July 2018, she won an award at the "My Motherland" International Folk String Competition.
On March 18, 2021, I won an award in the ethnic instrument category of the 23rd "Great Wall Cup" International Music Competition.
On August 17, 2021, I won an award in the ethnic instrument category at the 24th "Changjiang Cup" International Competition.
On August 18, 2021, they performed at the "Japan-China Friendship Exchange Music Festival" in Kyoto. They won the Consul's Award from the Chinese Consulate-General in Osaka.
In September 2021, I passed the regional final round of the Osaka International Music Competition.
On February 15, 2023, she won an award at the 7th "Seiraku Cup" International Erhu Competition.
